Good Lord, I can't stand auto-tune.

The group was in Morocco in 1974, when Robert wrote the lyrics. It was recorded and released in 1975 on the Pphysical Graffiti album. The group got together in 2007, and this live version was recorded. Jason Bonham inherited his late father’s skills on the drums. John Paul Jones, who always held the band together, played double keyboards and what would have been his bass guitar part was played using his left foot. Jimmy Paige had cleaned himself up by the time this was recorded. He explained in an interview, that the driving riff was actually the end part of another unnamed song. Thank goodness it was decided to use it to drive Kashmir through its entirety. And then we have Robert Plant, whose vocals show no diminishment with age. The power that he had to hit those notes, and to hold them for so many beats is why Zeppelin will always be in the Parthenon of great rock groups. No auto tuning, no gimmicks, just raw unfettered talent that makes this live version better than the original album track. For so many of us, we were glad to be kids of the 70’s and were able to expand our musical tastes in so many creative directions. Watching you both appreciate this iconic song gives so many of us older folks hope that when we’re no longer on this earth, that at least two more generations have found, listened and appreciated the music of our youth. A professionally trained singer friend of mine in Santa Fe adores the singing of Van Morrison, and while I like him a lot, I never realized how good he is until she was listening to a song by him and pointing out all the unique creative things he was doing with his voice. Meanwhile, I love this song Tupelo Honey, and it is one of my fav slow dance songs and has special memories for me. Oh, and I love the lps he has made with others in different genres - like with the Chieftains..... sweet beautiful Irish melodies, some that'll make you cry..... Thanks ya'll.

This song is not about Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Robinson never spent one second in any jail. This song is about a down and out white man. The song was written by a white man. During that time, white and Black men would not have shared a jail cell in New Orleans, it would have been against the law to put them in the same cell together. Bill "Bojangles" was a highly paid star of stage and film, he was never down and out, nor was he a drunk who would have been in a drunk tank in some local jail. He certainly didn't dance for drinks and tips.

Like "Still", this song is also about a divorced couple. He's telling her he's giving her back her name, he's looking for a good time and she can "Sail on". The difference is the song "Still" he's telling the woman he still loves her.
